Travis Leslie Won’t Return to Georgia for Senior Year

More NBA draft news today, as the high-flying Travis Leslie from the University of Georgia has decided to stay in the draft and not return to Athens next season.

If you watched the Bulldogs play this season, Leslie’s athleticism probably stood out big time.

He was one of the better athletes in the entire SEC this year, and while he’s still got some work to do on his shot, there’s no doubt that he’s the kind of athlete than can succeed in the NBA game.

Right now, most draft boards seem to have him as a late first-rounder. But again, some concerns with his outside shot could cause him to drop down to a high second rounder. Personally though, I think he’d thrive in a situation with a team that’s already loaded with talent (such as one of the four conference final teams), so hopefully he can land in the first round.

Leslie’s departure is another huge blow to Mark Fox‘s team, though there’s no question that he knew this was coming.

I thought the Bulldogs would have a better season than they did this past year, simply because of players like Leslie and Trey Thompkins, who is also entering the draft and could be a lottery pick. But in the SEC East, nothing came easy with the likes of Kentucky, Florida, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee on that side of the conference.

If you haven’t seen Leslie play, well, here’s a little taste of this guy’s athletic ability:
