The 2011-2012 college basketball season is almost upon us, as we kicked off our 2011-2012 Preview series this past Monday here on Busting Brackets.
Our series continues tomorrow, but for now, let’s take a look back at all the great things that we discussed during week one of our previews:
MONDAY, OCTOBER 17
An excellent conversation with Mark to kick off our series, and Washington is a team that could be very intriguing this season. With four teams expected to be right in the mix for the Pac-12 title, the Huskies certainly have the tools to finish on top out west.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18
Pete and I discussed what Maryland basketball will be like post-Gary Williams. While I think Maryland will take a little bit of a step back, if freshman Nick Faust can be the player that they think he can be, perhaps the Terps could surprise some people in the ACC.
Along with our newest staff member here at BB, Jamal Murphy, our preseason Top 25 poll with revealed. Both of us had a pretty similar top half, although there were some differing opinions towards the bottom of the list.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 19
We had a great talk with Catlin about what he expects to see in the Ohio Valley Conference this season. The OVC race should be pretty wide open as well, with Tennessee Tech, Murray State, Austin Peay, and Tennessee State all having a shot to finish first in that conference.
Jerry of HailWV.com joined me to discuss the Mountaineers’ chances in the loaded Big East. Bob Huggins has a talented team returning, and it looks to be another great year for West Virginia.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20
Marquette is a team that I think a lot of people are sleeping on, even though they seem to be in most Preseason Top 25 polls. Andy talks about what expectations are like for Buzz Williams‘ team heading into the year.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21
I agree with Brad that this could very well be Chris Mack‘s most talented squad yet. Tu Holloway is a big time player, and will have a ton of help around him.
Joe joined me for a chat on the Jared Sullinger-led Buckeyes, who are clearly gunning for a national title this season.
Jamal and I provided our first, second, and third team preseason All-Americans, with some differing opinions on the placement of several players. Take a look for yourself and let us know who you think should be where.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22
A look at this year’s Michigan team with the guys over at GBMWolverine.com. There’s no doubt that Tim Hardaway Jr. is due for a huge season in Ann Arbor.
Well there’s a look at our first week in the series. Remember, you can view our entire list of pieces in the series by visiting our preview series page.
The series continues tomorrow with more “Talking Basketball” pieces, as well as our first conference preview!
