Selection Sunday 2012 Preview: WAC

facebooktwitterreddit

Selection Sunday is finally here and we are rolling through the conferences to let you know what to expect this evening when the 2012 NCAA tournament bracket is announced.

Let’s take a quick look at what we’ll be seeing from the WAC:

IN

New Mexico State– The Aggies won the WAC Tournament on Saturday by laying the wood on Louisiana Tech, 82-57. Though they earned the automatic bid for the WAC, the Aggies’ only notable win game in their annual rivalry game against New Mexico, which they won by nine points.

BUBBLE

Nevada– The Wolfpack are an interesting case in terms of the bubble. Nevada owned the WAC this season, going 13-1 in conference and 26-6 overall, with a signature win over Washington in overtime back in December. Though the Pack played UNLV tough, a blowout loss to BYU and a Bracket Busters loss to Iona on national television doesn’t help the pride of Reno, and neither does being ranked 63rd in RPI. They’re what you call, “deep bubble”, aka a serious NIT title contender.
