In the span of three months, Indiana has come full circle.
The Hoosiers are the new No. 1 in the AP Poll, returning to the top spot at which they opened the season in November. Tom Crean’s team replaced previously top-ranked Michigan after knocking off the Wolverines over the weekend. Michigan, which sunk to third, held the No. 1 ranking for just one week.
Florida checks in at No. 2 riding a ten-game winning streak. The Gators received seven first-place votes while the Hoosiers received the other 58. Duke slid up to fourth, followed by Kansas at No. 5. The Jayhawks dropped a rare (but not unexpected) home game to Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Miami, fresh off a scintillating last-second win on the road over N.C. State, moves into the Top 10 for the first time in more than a decade. The Hurricanes have won nine consecutive games and sit atop the ACC — nursing a comfortable two-game lead, to boot — as the lone remaining unbeaten in league play. Miami has yet to lose a game at full strength this season.
Gonzaga (No. 6), Arizona (No. 7), Syracuse (No. 9) and Ohio State (No. 10) round out the Top 10. The Buckeyes return to the Top 10 for the first time in five weeks. The Orange dipped from sixth to ninth after picking up its second straight loss in the state of Pennsylvania. Jim Boeheim’s team fell at Pittsburgh, one week removed from an overtime loss to Villanova in Philadelphia.
Wichita State (previously No. 15), Ole Miss (No. 16), N.C. State (No. 19) and San Diego State (No. 22) all spiraled out of the poll. Three Big East schools — Georgetown (No. 20), Pittsburgh (No. 23) and Notre Dame (No. 25) — rejoined the ranks following absences of varying length. Oklahoma State (No. 22) is back in the Top 25 for the first time in five weeks.
