2014 Recruit Sam Logwood Has Made Commitment To Auburn

As first reported by verbalcommits.com, 6’6 Forward Sam Logwood has committed to play for Auburn University. Logwood is certainly one of the most physical and tenacious prospects i have had the pleasure of watching. A 6’6 physical, scrappy player playing for Auburn actually sounds pretty familiar… maybe i’m thinking of a legendary player you might’ve heard of, Charles Barkley? Besides that funny little comparison, Logwood is in fact some ways similar to Barkley (besides being a rebounding juggernaut and having weight issues). Instead of using his size to grab boards like a machine, Sam Logwood uses his body to simply pulverize his way to the hole and any defender that thinks they have a chance at stopping the freight train that is Sam Logwood.

Paired with his physical ability, Logwood is also very athletically gifted, which can be easily spotted when he attempts either a wild-looking layup or going up high for the dunk. Like Charles Barkley years into his career, Logwood has a very efficient and smooth jumper, being able to hit the mid-range jumper or from beyond the ark. His effort and work on the defensive end is superb, but the true test of his defense will come when facing bigger, stronger players at the collegiate level in two years. Despite his abilities and talents, Logwood needs to raise his basketball I.Q, for there are instances where Logwood can make some rather head-scratching plays. Ranked 20th in his position, 5th best player in the state of Indiana, 78th on the ESPN Top 100 2014 class and a scout rating of 4 stars, Sam Logwood can provide good energy and good hustle plays for the Auburn Tigers in a short matter of years. With talent as raw as his, if he can improve by the time he sets out for Auburn, the sky is the limit for this high-flyer.
