Kevin Ware is Fully Healthy

One of the most memorable moments of the 2013 NCAA tournament, not for good reasons, was Kevin Ware injuring his leg on national television. The injury was gruesome and terrifying and for a while, looked like it might have doomed an otherwise promising basketball career for a great young player.

As of October 4th, 2013, that will no longer be a worry for Ware or the Louisville Cardinals. The young man has  healed perfectly  according to doctors and has been cleared to start practicing with his team.

Over the summer, we received periodical updates on Ware’s condition and he was clearly steadily improving. To hear that he is now back to full health is great news. What could have been a career ending moment turned into something Ware could use to fuel his fire. The tenacity Ware showed during his injury and throughout the recovery process has been nothing short of amazing and Ware has most definitely earned his clean bill of health.

Next up for Ware will be returning to the game and adjusting his psychological state of mind. While it may be a little tough mentally to step back onto the court after his injury, time will make things better. Once he gets comfortable running full court and playing in the flow of practice, Ware will start feeling much more at ease in game like situations.

There is no clear timetable set on Ware’s recovery but his coach, Rick Pitino, believes Ware will be ready to play full games by October.

“He started working out yesterday,” Pitino said. “I would say he will be able to play all out basketball sometime at the end of October.”
