Steve Prohm has had a really good start in his first three years as a head coach. While it can be argued that one NCAA Tournament appearance in that span isn’t terrific, Murray State did win the CIT last year.

A lot of experts previously wondered if Prohm’s first magical season was more about the talented Isaiah Canaan than it was about him as a coach, but even without Canaan the Racers have won 21 or more games without him over the last two years.

It helps in our rankings that Prohm isn’t even 40 yet (he will be in July). It is his future that makes him an intriguing prospect and helps push him ahead of some other, maybe currently better coaches. The most interesting to look out for down the line is if Prohm sticks it out with Murray State if he has another great year or looks to jump to a power conference team.
