We know a good idea when we see one, and when ESPN decided to have their version of a college basketball draft amongst their college basketball writers and analysts on Twitter late last week, we decided not only to try it ourselves, but make it better.

The idea is simple. Draft the best team possible of current college basketball players. In this fantasy scenario, eight of our writers participated in the draft where the order was selected randomly. Teams were drafted as if they would play on the court together (for example, don’t draft three point guards and two centers).

The draft was snake-style, meaning the last pick of one round held the first pick of the next. After drafting our five players, we continued the snake format for drafting a coach and an arena. Our eight writers held the draft on Twitter, which some of you may have seen.

The results were some stacked teams in the fantasy “what-if” contest. There were many surprising or controversial selections and many names questionably left out of the draft. The order of the draft went as such:

Team Randy Sherman
Team Courtney Smith
Team Jacob Rude
Team Casey Krajewski
Team Bryce Bennett
Team Daniel Tran
Team Alex Piasecki
Team Prad Tonamantham
