Arizona State Basketball: One of the nation’s top transfers in Carlton Bragg is off the board after deciding on Arizona State.

Former Kansas forward Carlton Bragg has committed to Arizona State over Illinois and others. The 6’10” big man must sit one year before he plays his junior and senior seasons in Tempe.

Bragg visited Arizona State earlier in the week, according to ESPN. He told ESPN, “I felt like it was the best fit for me — in the Pac-12. Their style of play fits my style getting up and down the court. I talked to everyone close to me and they felt it was the best fit for me.”

Bragg averaged 5.1 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game in just 13 minutes per contest during his sophomore campaign. Per 40 minutes, however, the Cleveland native posts 17.0 points per game as well as 11.1 rebounds per game.

Bragg struggled greatly with off-court issues and was suspended on two occasions during the 2016-17 season. He missed four games, two of which were wins over then-top 5 teams. Regarding his legal difficulties, Bragg told ESPN  that he “loved it at Kansas, but I definitely had ups and downs. I’m looking forward to a new beginning, a fresh start.”

The Sun Devils landed another notable transfer as well in Zylan Cheatham. The 6’9″ forward averaged 9.1 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game for San Diego State last season. He, too, will sit a year before playing his junior and senior seasons.

A pair of top-100 recruits will be stepping on campus next season as well. Four-star small forward Kimani Lawrence and four-star point guard Remy Martin both hope to boost Arizona State into Pac-12 relevancy after consecutive under-.500 seasons.
