Michigan State will participate in the PK80 Tournament in November, but who will the Spartans face?

Last season, the Michigan State Spartans went 20-15, finishing fifth in the Big Ten and earning a trip to the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Once in the tournament, the Spartans would make it to the Round of 32 before falling to the Kansas Jayhawks, but the season was definitely a success.

Next season should be even better for Tom Izzo and Michigan State.

With Miles Bridges returning to Lansing, we should expect Michigan State to be the favorite in the Big Ten heading into the season. Looking around the conference, the Spartans have little “true” competition due to the departure of several top players from schools like Maryland, Wisconsin, and Purdue.

However, the Big Ten is always ultra-talented, so we can expect the conference to be as competitive as ever – even with Michigan State as the favorites.

Thankfully, we’ll get a brief glimpse of the Spartans against top opposition as they will participate in the Phil Knight Invitational.

Placed in the Victory Bracket of the PK80 Tournament, Michigan State will face off with the Georgetown Hoyas in Session 3 on November 23 at the Moda Center. Based on results, the Spartans will play either the UConn Huskies or Oregon Ducks in Session 8.

The rest of the Victory Bracket includes the Portland Pilots, North Carolina Tar Heels, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Oklahoma Sooners.

Next: Rest of PK80 field

This tournament looks to be extremely exciting, and Michigan State’s inclusion is clearly part of that.
