Bo Zeigler has committed to the George Washington Colonials, giving GW a much-needed experienced veteran presence.

The George Washington Colonials took a step closer to returning to the NCAA Tournament last season, as they finished with 20 total wins in what many believed to be a transition year. The Colonials were able to make it to the 2017 CBI where they won a game against the Toledo Rockets before falling to the UIC Flames in the next round.

The Colonials were able to make it to the 2017 CBI where they won a game against the Toledo Rockets before falling to the UIC Flames in the next round.

Both of these accomplishments seem even more impressive when it is noted that GW did this under the leadership of an interim coach who is now head coach, Maurice Joseph. Joseph was able to prove to the university that he could get things done on the court and was therefore promoted in March to a well-deserved position at the head of the Colonials’ basketball program.

That being said, there is still a lot of work to do for Joseph and GW, especially when it comes to recruiting. With an eye towards the future, the Colonials have secured the commitment of veteran college basketball player Bo Zeigler from the South Florida Bulls.

Last season with USF, Zeigler averaged 3.5 rebounds and 4.7 points per game over 20.5 minutes per game. The 6’6, 207-pound junior out of Detroit has never featured for the Bulls but will be a graduate transfer – meaning that he is eligible to play for the Colonials immediately.

Zeigler will likely not be a starter and still only see limited bench minutes throughout the course of the season for the Colonials, but his veteran presence should be very good for this team as a whole. It might be a year or two, but George Washington is on their way back up – and I believe that Joseph can get them there.
