Signing day for the 2019 recruiting class has come and gone. What are the biggest takeaways for the NCAA Basketball teams?

An under the radar event that happens during the start of the NCAA Basketball season is the early signing day for next season’s recruiting class. It occurs in the middle of November and it allows the chance for early commits to sign their name on the dotted line and fully join their respective program for the following season.

Of course, these days it’s not truly a commitment when players sign their letters of intent. If a player decides later to not attend that school, the head coach could force them to remain with the program. But we’ve seen how those attempts end, with social media outrage ultimately forcing the school to allow the player to get out of the agreement. For the most part though, players who sign on signing day end up suiting up for their team next season.

With the early signing day going by this week, there were a bunch of takeaways and surprising results. According to 247sports (as of 11/15), the USC Trojans currently have the No. 1 recruiting class, with three of the five commits having signed. Rounding out the top-5 are Villanova, Arizona, Louisville, and Kentucky.

The Duke Blue Devils are currently outside the top-25, with just two commits. Of course, that’s gonna change once the final rankings come out but the SEC having five teams in the top-16 probably will remain near the same.

There were some notable team and individual rankings and signings but three notes, in particular, stood out.
