Louisville plays host to Lipscomb on Wednesday at the KFC Yum! Center. Can the Cardinals hold off a pesky Lipscomb team? Here are 3 storylines to watch for in the matchup.

The Lipscomb Bisons have been one of the better mid-major teams over the first month of the season. The Bisons are currently 7-2 with their only losses coming at the hand of their rivals in Nashville, Belmont of six points. Lipscomb faces its toughest test of the season as it travels to Louisville to take on the Cardinals on Wednesday night.

The 6-3 Cardinals will be looking to bounce back after a tough 68-67 loss at Indiana on Saturday. Coach Chris Mack’s club had won four straight prior to the loss, including wins over Michigan State and a Seton Hall team that knocked off Kentucky on Saturday.

So far this season the Cardinals have been very tough on their home floor, albeit against lesser competition, their average margin of victory has been 34 points, Lipscomb should pose a little more of a challenge for Louisville. The Bisons have become accustomed to playing on the road, not having been home since a Nov. 15, their first meeting with Belmont. Since then, this will be the seventh straight game away from home for Casey Alexander’s squad. In that time, they have wins over Middle Tennessee State, SMU, and nationally ranked TCU. The Bisons certainly won’t be intimidated playing in hostile territory.

To the casual college hoops fan this may look like another cakewalk for Louisville at home, but not so fast. Lipscomb could surprise some folks, including Louisville if they aren’t prepared. Here are three storylines to look at ahead of Wednesday’s contest.
