UConn basketball has been making headlines throughout this offseason. How will the Huskies’ incoming recruiting class impact the AAC and Big East?

There are few programs in the nation that have made as many headlines as UConn basketball during this offseason. That is, though, a direct result of making the decision to return to the Big East Conference starting in the near future (year of entry is yet to announced). After a hiatus from the league to play in the AAC, this seems like a great move for both parties and it will be interesting to see the Huskies hopefully rise towards the top of the country once again as a member of the Big East.

Even though UConn has not been the most successful program as of late, fans of the program are eager to see development on and off the court under head coach Dan Hurley. In his first season with the program, the Huskies struggled to find any consistency as they fell to ninth place in the AAC with a 16-17 (6-12 AAC) record. Thankfully, though, the future looks bright with the No. 21 ranked recruiting class in the country coming in.

This group, which features three top-100 recruits, will likely play a major role in the future of the program. In order for a smooth transition back to the Big East, these newcomers will need to make an immediate impact in the AAC this season and continue their development into the future. Additionally, the program is also bringing in one of the top transfers in the country. RJ Cole, who spent the last two years as a high-scoring guard for Howard, will sit this coming season out before playing his final two seasons with the Huskies.

Now, without any further ado, let’s dive into analyzing UConn’s three incoming freshmen and what they might bring to the table. (Note: All recruiting rankings are from 247Sports Composite.)
