With a wild offseason of NCAA Basketball coaching hires finally finished, what were some of the best hires from this offseason and how would we grade each of them?

A hectic offseason full of head coaching moves has finally come to an end. NCAA Basketball programs will soon begin their training for next season while coaches continue to make waves on the recruiting trail. There are 58 programs that will break in new head coaches next season. Excitement bounds for each of these programs, though some hires were clearly better than others.

Before we run through this year’s new coaches, let’s take a moment to consider last season. There were some bizarre coaching searches and big name programs with opening this year, but let’s not discount last year’s moves. Big name coaches like Chris Mack and Penny Hardaway have already had great impact on their new programs while Tom Crean, Jeff Capel and Kermit Davis have their programs headed in a positive direction. We also saw coaches like Tubby Smith and Lorenzo Romar take mid-major positions and both of those hires are paying dividends.

This year, we’ve seen programs like UCLA, Michigan, Arkansas, and Alabama with job openings, while some pretty impressive young coaches will be getting their chance in the spotlight. We’re going to take a look at each one of these new hires, touching upon their qualifications and recent coaching history. We’ll also mention how they fit with their new program and perhaps touch upon the coaching search and if the best candidate was inevitably hired. Every single hire has been given a grade (A through F), which is based on the total hire.

Without further ado, let’s starting running through these new hires.
