Five-star forward Caleb Houstan is now part of the 2021 NCAA Basketball recruiting class. Which programs have shown an interest in him?

During the Summer of the offseason, it’s not surprising to see a number of high-level NCAA Basketball prospects opt to reclassify up a year to get closer to both college and eventually the pros. That’s exactly what No. 1 overall player Jonathan Kuminga did, although he has gone from high school to the NBA G League. Now, it’s Caleb Houstan’s turn to move up.

Originally part of the 2022 recruiting class, Houstan was a consensus five-star prospect and one of the best forwards overall. The Canadian superstar became a “can’t miss” player after dominant performances in the FIBA U16 Tournament in 2019 for Team Canada. He plays his high school basketball in the states at powerhouse Montverde Academy and stars there as well.

Currently listed at 6’8 and 190 pounds, Houstan is the modern-day versatile forward that can thrive in the NBA. He’s an elite scorer, shooter and capable defender that can play some small-ball power forward as well and expose mismatches. As a consensus top-10 prospect, look for the forward to have a ton of attention once his recruitment really heats up.

There’s also the possibility that the G League is available to him, but for now, let’s just assume college is his ultimate destination. According to both Rivals and 247sports, there are 16 programs that have either declared public interest or have already offered Houstan a scholarship. For an incredibly early look into the process, here’s how the five-star forward would potentially fit with each program.
