Top-50 shooting guard prospect Deebo Coleman has 11 NCAA Basketball programs to choose from. Which contender has the best shot to land him?

One of the best pure shooters in the 2021 NCAA Basketball recruiting class is  Dallan “Deebo” Coleman, a shooting guard/wing from Callahan, FL. He was outstanding last season as a junior at West Nassau High School, averaging nearly 26 ppg and eight rebounds, along with four steals a night.

Coleman has great size at 6’6 and 200 pounds, capable of playing and defending at multiple positions. He can handle the ball on the perimeter and score in a variety of ways. His consistency and efficiency in scoring the ball make him a potential star in college and one that many power conference programs are set to go after.

Now inside the top-50 overall in 247sportsComposite, Coleman has seen both his ranking and scholaship offers increase in the past few months. Now, there are officially 11 programs in the running to land him.

It’s an interesting list, filled with many in the Southeastern part of the United States. Will location ultimately matter in Coleman’s decision? Or could playing time and ability to win have more of an impact? Here’s a closer look at his potential fit with each option.

Head coach Bruce Pearl’s success with developing guards makes the Tigers a genuine option to consider. And with none of the current roster having any seniors on it, Coleman would be joining and developing with a core of underclassmen such as JT Thor, Justin Powell, and shooting guard Devan Cambridge.

While Auburn could certainly use another guard to pair with Cambridge, there aren’t many scholarships available for the program to use. Assuming that incoming five-star point guard  Sharife Cooper leaves after one year, adding a ball-handler should more of the priority than one off the ball. Until they land a point guard first, that could determine how much of an effort the Tigers will make.
