JN: Jim Boeheim. Yeah, I know. The ACC is not great, but Syracuse was supposed to be in rebuild mode this year. This “award” doesn’t always have to go to a coach who is unknown or from a smaller program. Cuse is over achieving all the way around. Give grumpy uncle Jim some love.
BLW: Jay Wright at Villanova. There are good players on this team, but they do not have any household names on this roster. And yet, there the Wildcats are in the top five in the middle of January.
JM: I’m sorry to be tacky and give it to the coach with the number one team in the nation but it has to be Sean Miller to me. Not that he’s made up for a lack of talent or anything, but the fact that he’s returned the Arizona program to prominence so quickly, and that he’s nailed his recruiting, landed impact-making transfers, and develops young talent, makes me have to tip my cap and offer him this meaningless mid-season award.
