Hall of Fame coach Lute Olsen led the Wildcats to an improbable four straight Pac-10 Tournament titles despite the 11-year tournament hiatus.
Arizona was a tour de force in the Pac-10 for awhile thanks to their great head coach. It helped that he brought in such talented players as Sean Elliott, Luke Walton, and Buechler, among many others.
During his 24 seasons in Tuscon, Olson led the Wildcats to 589 wins, their only National Championship (1997), and 11 Pac-10 regular season titles. He was 4-1 in the conference title games, outscoring opponents by an average of 18.5 points in the four wins.
In today’s game, with such parity, it’s unlikely any team from a major conference will win four straight conference titles again.
