18. Phoenix Suns — Gary Harris, SG, Michigan State
H: 6′ 4″ W: 205 lbs DOB: 09/14/1994
2013-14 NCAA (35 GP) 16.7 PPG 4.0 RPG 2.7 APG 22.9 PER
If Gary Harris slides this far then Phoenix should be thrilled. The Suns have a lot of solid players, and could certainly welcome another solid addition to to their backcourt. It is also a plus that Harris has that ability to hurl a ball towards the general direction of a basketball hoop — and it even goes in.
One of the few concerns regarding Harris’ is his size. Only 6’4″, Harris can’t really play the point. So he is a one-position, small two guard, that is it. He is 205-pounds, though, so he can still be physical with other twos in the league. He is athletic enough to guard some ones as well. The Suns — or whoever else would draft him — would just have to eat the fact that he can only play one position on offense.
At least for right now he is a capable NBA scorer and a better defender than people realize. Maybe he develops a little bit into a ball-handling two down the road, but for now he is too good to pass up at 18. — Joe
