2015 NBA Draft: Preseason Top 10 NBA Draft Prospects
By Jacob Rude
1. Jahlil Okafor, C, Duke
Okafor is the traditional center, unlike Towns. And at 7’0, 275 pounds, there aren’t many things that can’t slow him down.
For a college player like Okafor to have such a great post-up game is rare. He knows how to use his frame, knows how to finish, and knows that few people can stop him. His IQ is very high, meaning even when you bring a double team, he can find the open man and still hurt you. His touch around the basket is better than most NBA players, and he will contribute immediately to NBA teams.
Even at 7’0″, 275 pounds, Okafor is not a great defender, sub-par even. His lack of athleticism means he doesn’t often finish above the rim and he also doesn’t contest many shots at the rim. He can use his size and 7’5″ wingspan, but is underwhelming defensively with said size. He would do well to slim down and increase his explosiveness and leaping ability.
