Chris Walker (Power Forward), Sophomore – Florida
Florida Gator fans spent a good portion of the 2013-2014 season including the same addendum to all discussions regarding Florida basketball. “Just wait until you see this team with Chris Walker.” After dealings with an agent cost him more than half of his freshman season, Walker did eventually suit up, and the Gators did advance to the Final Four.
However, Walker’s first season in Gainesville turned out to be much ado about nothing. He only logged double-digit minutes once during the season, and his high game was a meager seven points against UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen.
This year the Rowdy Reptiles are once again fueling Walker’s legend. The former McDonald’s All-American has a scary set of measurables and athleticism that makes him a certain NBA draft pick (he’s currently projected as a 2015 lottery pick by Draft Express). This season, expect him to play a more prominent role as the Gators look to replace Patric Young in the middle and it won’t be difficult to make a significant jump from 1.9 points per game.
