2015 NBA Draft Big Board Top 10, Week Six
By Jacob Rude
4. Justise Winslow, Guard/Forward, Duke Blue Devils
Winslow shot himself up the draft boards at the start of the season. With fans focused on Okafor, they witnessed Winslow’s elite motor and talent level. He does a little bit of everything and does it all well. He’s 3rd in scoring, 3rd in rebounds, 4th in assists, 3rd in steals, and is shooting 37% from three-point range.
After his hot start, he’s cooled off considerably, reaching double figures in scoring just once in his last four games. Still, he has shown that he can be an impact player at any level in many ways. At 6’6, he translates nicely as a small forward at the NBA level, but he could even see minutes as a shooting guard if he can continues to shoot at a solid level.
3. Willie Cauley-Stein, Center, Kentucky Wildcats
As we said earlier, no one flew up draft boards quicker than Cauley-Stein. After coming to Kentucky with lots of promise and potential, Cauley-Stein has finally showed what Calipari was so anxious to see when he was recruiting him.
Stein is leading the Wildcats in points and rebounds this year, but his stats are hard to get a full grasp on considering the low minutes he’s playing. If you look at his per 40-minute averages of 17.5 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks and compare that to Towns’ per-40 minute stats of 18.0 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 5.6 blocks, you can see how they are comparable and why WCS is flying up draft boards.
For now, WCS is a secure 3rd place on this list behind his teammate, but depending on how conference play goes, anything is possible.
