Virginia Cavaliers +1800/180-1– Tony Bennett has had his brand of boring yet effective basketball on the brink of breakthrough for the past few seasons.

UVA finished the 2014-15 season with a 30-4 record despite the fact that they were without guard/forward Justin Anderson in the middle of their ACC schedule.

This season, the Wahoos are going to be without Justin Anderson and second leading rebounder Darion Atkins. But the Tony Bennett’s system is intact, and there are still plenty of players left on the roster to make noise in 2015-16.

Virginia was the No.1 defensive team in the nation last year yielding 51.4 points per contest to their opponents and that should remain the same even with the 30-second shot clock. The shorter shot clock just means that the Cavaliers have to concentrate for five less seconds defensively.

Though they lost a couple of key players from their squad, Malcolm Brogdon is back for his senior season after leading the Cavaliers in scoring at 14.0 ppg on 42.2% shooting from the floor as a junior.

6-foot-8 forward Anthony Gill, who averaged 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds as a junior, is also back for his senior season and should be a force once again in the blocks alongside 6-foot-11 center Mike Tobey.

At 180-1 odds, Virginia would be a pretty decent investment. The only problem is that they are slowly starting to give you that same feeling that you get from Gonzaga or Arizona on a yearly basis.

That feeling that they are on the brink, but something is going to derail the ride.
