The ‘Oakland Zoo’ (the Panthers student section) creates another incredible ACC atmosphere at “The Pete.” A 12,508 arena on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh, “The Pete” opened in 2002. The Panthers and Jamie Dixon have lost only five non-conference games in the building and have one of the strongest attendance ratings in the nation.

The student sections are spread out throughout the lower bowl all around the arena and these passionate fans have witnessed numerous remarkable games throughout the Big East and now the ACC.

The Panthers have lost just one home game in conference play this season (to North Carolina State), but they also don’t have many quality wins (just Syracuse). They have two major opportunities versus Louisville and Duke next week so the lack of quality wins in front of some of the best fans in college basketball could change quickly.

This was a great moment at the Petersen Events Center:

“They just don’t lose at home.”
