Monte Morris

Monte Morris is unquestionably the top Iowa State prospect in the 2017 NBA draft. The most stable point guard in the history of college hoops ended his career as ISU’s leader in both assists and steals while breaking his own assist-to-turnover ratio.

At 6’3″, 175, Morris is a bit light to play in the NBA, but he has proven himself a durable competitor averaging over 33 minutes per game for his career. The Flint native averaged a career-high 16.4 points along with 4.8 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.5 steals. Morris also showed off his improved range hitting 54 threes on 38% accuracy. He’ll be the perfect floor general for a pro team’s second unit.

Plenty of teams including the Lakers and Kings have looked at the point guard, but the Wizards might be the best fit. Morris would a great backup behind John Wall (assuming Washington isn’t too attached to Trey Burke). A Wizards’ second perimeter unit with Morris, Bojan Bodganovic and former Kansas Jayhawk Kelly Oubre would have tremendous potential. Don’t be shocked if GM Ernie Grunfeld pulls the trigger at pick No. 52 on June 22nd.
