Duke Basketball: Blue Devils in the 2017 Summer League
By Stuart Gill
Amile Jefferson, Minnesota Timberwolves
Duke’s former captain will team up with Notre Dame small forward V.J. Beachem and former Kansas standout Perry Ellis on the Minnesota Timberwolves Summer League squad. With so much young talent on Minnesota’s NBA roster, it is hard to find a reason to say the Timberwolves need Jefferson around. Still, they’ve given him a chance to prove himself to their coaching staff and others around the league.
Jefferson was never the main focal point during his time as a Duke Blue Devil. He played with big names such as Jabari Parker, Jahlil Okafor and Brandon Ingram, and was never relied upon to score the basketball. But in his five years on campus, he cemented himself as one of the most valuable players on the team with his leadership and defensive efforts. The biggest thing going for him at this point in his career is his work ethic. He just might make the most of this opportunity and land himself a contract.
Jefferson will be playing on NBA.tv against the Toronto Raptors on Monday, July 8th. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 pm ET at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
