4. North Carolina (17)

Overall No. 1 picks: Brad Daugherty.

Other lottery picks: Eric Montross, Rasheed Wallace, Jerry Stackhouse, Vince Carter, Antwan Jamison, Rashad McCants, Sean May, Ray Felton, Marvin Williams, Brendan Wright, Tyler Hansbrough, Ed Davis, John Henson, Kendall Marshall, Harrison Barnes, and J.R. Reid.

Carolina has produced the second most NBA draft picks in college basketball history. 112 Tar Heel players have been drafted overall. However, Carolina has not had a lottery pick since 2012 when Barnes was selected with the seventh overall selection by Golden State.

In addition, Daugherty is the Tar Heels’ only top overall draft pick. Daugherty had a good, not great NBA career.  Granted, Carter is a potential Hall of Famer, but no other Tar Heel is close to that level. Jamison, Stackhouse, and Wallace had very good long careers.

Williams has had the best career of the rest of the players. Barnes had a career season this past season with Dallas.

Montross is probably Carolina’s biggest lottery bust.
