NCAAW Basketball: Which schools hired new coaches for 2017-18?
List of coaches (continued)
Miami Redhawks: McCray is not the only ex-WNBA player to get their first head coaching job this year as Miami University named 33-year-old Megan Duffy to their top post. Duffy, who spent three years as an assistant at Michigan, played three seasons in the WNBA. She was a third round pick of the Minnesota Lynx in 2006.
North Carolina Central Eagles: Trisha Stafford-Odom has a huge task on hand, which is to turn around the Eagles program. UNCC has not produced a winning season since transitioning to Division in 2010-11. Stafford-Odom guided Concordia University-Irvine to a 37-45 record over three seasons prior to accepting the UNCC post.
Illinois State Redbirds: Illinois State has not had a winning season in four years and will look to new coach Kristen Gillespie to turn things around. Gillespie is coming off a two-year stint at D-II Lewis University where she compiled a 51-12 record. She also was the head coach for four years at Benedictine University.
Nevada Wolf Pack: Amanda Levens is once again a head coach. Levens returns to the first seat after serving as an associate head coach at Arizona State, her alma mater. She previously was in charge at SIU Edwardsville helping them transition to Division. Levens, who has compiled a 42-76 record as a head coach, replaces recently retired Jane Albright.
Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers: Maria Marchesano comes to Mount St. Mary’s from IUPUI. She has previous head coaching experience with D-II Walsh University (Ohio) and Urbana University (Ohio)
Belmont Bruins: 36-year-old Bart Brooks comes to Belmont after 11 years as an assistant coach at DePaul. He started his coaching career at D-II Barry University (Miami, Fla).
