Oklahoma Sooners – Kameron McGusty

10.9 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 35 3P% (38 makes)

Even though Oklahoma had a down 2016-17 season, they received promising production from Kameron McGusty. McGusty was the second-leading scorer on Oklahoma behind Jordan Woodard, who graduated after last season. The 6’5″ wing has an all-around offensive game as he can shoot from long range and attack the basket.

With Woodard out of the picture, McGusty should be the featured offensive player. He has break-out potential and could average close to 15 ppg as a sophomore. Oklahoma should be much better this season since most of last year’s inexperienced team has returned. McGusty is joined by talented players like Rashard Odomes, Kristian Doolittle (when his suspension ends), and Khadeem Lattin, who all started and played major minutes last season. With another year of experience under their belts, this core of returning players should lead the Sooners to a top half finish in the Big 12.

However, the biggest addition is freshman PG Trae Young. While Woodard played PG, he was more of a scorer. Young is more of a traditional PG who will set up McGusty for many scoring opportunities. Playing with a high-level PG will only help McGusty and will help Oklahoma get back to national relevance.
