Boston College Basketball: Can Eagles reach NCAA Tournament?
The Eagles rely heavily on guards
BC knew that, if they were going to see significant improvement this year, Robinson and Bowman would be the catalyst. And both players are coming up big-time along with Chatman, a 6-foot-5 junior guard.
The Eagles trio of guards have combined to produce 48.0 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 9.4 assists. That equates to 63.1% of the team’s scoring, 33.1% of the rebounding and 67.1% of the assists.
Robinson leads the team in scoring with 18.2 points a game as he has a shooting line of .475/.451/.818. The 6-foot-6 junior also is averaging 3.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists.
Bowman is second on the team with 16.4 points, third with 7.1 boards, and tops the team with 4.9 dimes. The 6-foot-1 sophomore point guard has posted four double-doubles and scored in double-figures on 19 occasions. His biggest issues are shot-selection and turnovers.
Chatman has improved his production in each of his three collegiate seasons. The BYU transfer has reached double-figures in 16 of his 19 games. He has three games of 20 or more points, including a season-high 30 points against Richmond on Dec. 23. Chatman is averaging 13.4 points as he leads the team with 48 three-pointers and is shooting from long-range at a 43.6% clip.
Last year, Robinson led the team in scoring while Bowman was the only other Eagle in double-figures.
