Florida Gators

The Gators started the season 5-0 – what’s bad about that? They even snuck a win over Gonzaga into that winning streak, suggesting the Gators would be the class of the SEC.

A three-game losing streak messed with Florida’s confidence, though. A tight loss to Duke was followed by a blowout at the hands of rival Florida State Seminoles.

Then, the team lost at home to Loyola-Chicago, missing 17 of 19 3-point attempts in the process. The Ramblers are near the top of the Missouri Valley Conference, but it’s still a home loss that’s tough to excuse.

Florida kept bombing threes, though, and they began to fall. A loss to Clemson was their only other loss in the nonconference schedule. They are currently 6-3 in SEC play, tied for second in the league.

One of the keys to Florida’s resurgence has been Jalen Hudson, a Virginia Tech transfer. As the season has progressed, he’s grown more comfortable with his 3-point shot. He’s shooting 42.9% from range, averaging 16.2 points per game.

In our latest bracketology, the Gators are listed as a No. 5 seed.

The Gators go as far as last year’s hero, Chris Chiozza, is able to take them. They appear to be hitting their stride at just the right time.
