Big Ten basketball: 2018 Conference Tournament preview
Big year for the Buckeyes
It hasn’t been all bad for the Big Ten. Chris Holtmann’s job he has done at Ohio State will never get enough praise. This was a team that finished 10th in the league last season. They weren’t expected to do much better this year. Holtmann took on the challenge in his first year at Columbus after coming from Butler and shot the Buckeyes into the top-four.
Two teams that showed promise this season is Nebraska and Penn State. The Cornhuskers are a top-five team and the Nittany Lions were right behind them. Both may not make the Tournament this year, but with their top-three leading scorers returning, they’ll be dangerous next season.
The Big Ten isn’t going to get as many teams in the Tournament as they normally do, but the conference was still exciting. The thing about the league this season is that it’s so top-heavy. The top teams are serious threats to make a run late in March. Before that can happen though, they need momentum. The first place to find Uncle Mo is in the conference tournament. So who’s in store for some good things in the upcoming week?
