Clemson Basketball: How the Tigers can upset Kansas
Shoot the lights out
It can’t really be coached at this point, and there’s no sure-fire way to prepare to shoot well. But the simple reality is, Clemson must shoot about as well as they did in their second-round game to get past Kansas.
With guards Gabe DeVoe and Shelton Mitchell, the Tigers are able to do exactly this. Consistency has been an issue, however, as Clemson has struggled immensely at times, such as when they were held to 36 points against Virginia and under 30% shooting from the field. On the other hand, they have had games like the Auburn game in which it looks like they can compete with anyone in the country.
The difference is not only the act of shooting itself but ball movement and efficiency in the offensive half court set. Clemson is a true basketball team, one that can not rely on the one-on-one offensive play and must move the ball. For them, success is contagious, and the positive momentum that the Tigers have on offense right now must be carried into the Kansas game.
