NBA Draft 2018: Mock First Round Projections 1.0
22. Chicago (from New Orleans): Keita Bates-Diop, SF
Poise and experience are what the Bulls want with this pick, and they will get this in the form of the mature former Buckeye Keita Bates-Diop. The 22-year-old will end up being the oldest player to be selected in the first round, and while his four years with Ohio State, the combination of his athleticism and strong play in a consistently strong Big Ten propels him into the first round conversation.
Chicago has two first round picks, and since they need a lot of help, they figure to be very different. With a small forward who can shoot the ball but excels more defensively, their first pick figures to be a young play maker who can light up the scoreboard.
21. Utah: Troy Brown, SG
Defense is what Utah could use, and Troy Brown provides exactly that. He can play in multiple different areas and defends intensely. The Jazz has a lot of the right pieces in place but could still use a defender of this caliber, which is why Brown is an appealing pick.
Quite possibly the most appealing element of the 18-year-old is that he can be coached. His jump shot may still develop, and he is an unselfish player. With all of this potential Utah will not pass up the opportunity to snag a player with almost unlimited potential to go along with the rest of their young roster.
