NCAA Basketball: 3 teams that will have to make up for a ton of lost production in 2018-19
Duke Blue Devils
When it comes to Coach K and Duke, there is never really a whole lot of concern when it comes to recruiting. There may not be a better destination for elite high school players. And this season is no exception. With four of the top ten national recruits, the Blue Devils have maybe the most potential of any team in the country.
But even Duke has a bit of a problem on their hands this season. Five starters are headed to the NBA draft, including Grayson Allen, a staple of the team for the past few seasons. They will also miss Marvin Bagley, Wendell Carter, and Gary Trent Jr.
It’s not to say that these voids can’t be overcome. But the fact that Duke has had a great recruiting year doesn’t automatically fill the shoes left behind by these superstars. It is going to be a tough start to the season for Duke, but if coach K can work his magic once again, they’ll be alright come tournament time.
