ACC Basketball: Top 10 players heading into the 2018 NBA Draft
5. Trevon Duval, Duke
Trevon Duval is another Duke Blue Devil player who will make the jump to the NBA after one season. Duval made 34 starts in 37 appearances during his freshman year at Duke. He showed off his playmaking ability this season, racking up 207 assists as the floor general for the Blue Devils in 2017-18.
Duval averaged 10.3 points, 5.6 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game in his rookie campaign. His 5.6 assists per game ranked third among ACC guards. He put up a career-high 12 assists in his second collegiate game against Utah Valley State back on Oct. 11.
Unselfish is one way to look at a player like Trevon Duval whose highlight reel ballhandling and playmaking abilities are ultimately what got him to Duke. He will need to do more of that at the next level if he hopes to make a name for himself.
He’ll need to work on his shooting going forward. Duval shot 29 percent from 3-point range last season, something that needs to improve if he wants to excel in the NBA.
