Duke Basketball: Top 2019 recruiting targets for the Blue Devils
PG Josiah James, Porter-Gaud School
If 2018 commit Tre Jones (No. 12 in the class) elects to leave school after just one season, Duke will once again be in need of finding a lead guard. This is where the recruitment of star guard Josiah James comes into play. The No. 14 ranked recruit in the 2019 class (No. 2 point guard) is heavily considering the Blue Devils at this point and he would be a valuable addition.
Standing at 6-foot-6, James has ridiculous size for the point guard position. His ball handling and playmaking skills are off the charts for his height and he will surely be an immediate-impact player no matter where he commits. James is a natural-born leader and possesses many qualities that would help bring together a star-studded roster of youngsters. He is a poised guard who understands when to attack himself and when to set up his teammates.
In a 247Sports article, it is clear that James has admiration for Coach K. This definitely bodes well for the Blue Devils in potentially landing the guard. Duke holds six of the seven crystal ball predictions at this point in James’ recruitment, with Michigan State taking the other one. South Carolina is another team that is heavily involved with James, who is from Charleston.
Coach K himself and Coach Scheyer are the lead recruiters in this case.
