Troy Brown, Oregon

Oregon Ducks wing Troy Brown was probably one of the more intriguing picks of the first round. The Washington Wizards already have Otto Porter and Kelly Oubre Jr. but it didn’t stop them from securing Brown. Maybe the front office knows something we don’t. After all, they just traded center Marcin Gortat to the Los Angeles Clippers for Austin Rivers.

Brown’s acquisition could be preparation for bigger moves at play. The Wizards unloading of Gortat shows they have a bigger plan in acquiring a more athletic big man this offseason.

Brown put up 11.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists in his lone season with Oregon during the 2017-18 season. Despite what he brings on the wing, he shot just 29.1 percent from 3-point range, something that doesn’t fit well with the Wizards’ small-ball style of play.

One of the Wizards up-and-coming forwards could be on the move with Brown’s arrival. Either way, it will be interesting to see where he fits on the roster.
