Pac-12 Basketball: Where are the former stars selected in the NBA Draft?
Chimezie Metu, USC
USC Trojans forward Chimezie Metu was the next player selected from the Pac-12 Conference. He was taken as the 49th selection by the San Antonio Spurs during the second round of the NBA Draft.
At 6-foot-11, Metu has versatility on his side. He averaged 15.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks for the Trojans in 2017-18. Metu shot 52.3 percent from the floor and 30 percent from 3-point range during his junior campaign.
He went 12-for-40 from 3-point range after attempting just two during the 2016-17 season. Now, he enters a situation with the Spurs where he has an opportunity to show his worth. He put up a career-high 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting against UCSB last season.
Metu has an opportunity to make the final 15-man roster as the Spurs lack frontcourt depth outside of Pau Gasol and LaMarcus Aldridge. He’ll be another prospect to keep an eye on when Summer League kicks off next month.
