3. Frank Howard, Syracuse

Frank Howard is one to watch after he had a breakout junior year with the Syracuse Orange in 2017-18. Howard came out of his shell last year, putting up 14.4 points, 4.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds per contest as a junior.

At 6-foot-4, Howard emerged as a solid contributor in the starting lineup alongside Tyus Battle and company. With Battle returning, Howard’s playmaking ability will be key to the Orange’ success in 2018-19.

The Syracuse Orange made a deep run in the NCAA Tournament despite entering as an 11-seed. They made it to the Elite Eight before losing to conference rival Duke. Still, Howard managed to shoot a career-high 32.7 percent from 3-point range, going from seldom-used bench player to starter in the rotation. through his college career.

Howard will have an opportunity to shoot with more volume as he enters the 2018-19 season. He averaged a career-high 13.4 shot attempts per game while shooting 37.6 percent from the field in 2017-18. He’s set for a big senior season and he’ll need to lead by example as highly-touted freshman guard Jalen Carey will also be on the roster.
