Indiana Basketball: Breaking down the 2018 recruiting class

Jake Forrester – Norristown, PA

Forward | 6-foot-8 | 215 lbs | No. 146 overall

Leading off this recruiting class is Jake Forrester, a fringe top-150 recruit in the nation. Standing at 6-foot-8 (at least, some sources place him at 6-foot-10), Forrester projects as a power forward at the collegiate level. He brings an already well-built college frame and can affect each game in a variety of ways. Forrester is not someone who will explode as a scorer but he does a ton of things that help his team win.

More specifically, he is an excellent rebounder and defender. He already has a college-ready body and uses his timing and box-out skills to consistently snag boards. In addition, he has the size and quickness to potentially cover positions 3-through-5 defensively. Although these are his two best skills, he is also able to step out and knock down the 3-pointer offensively. This versatility will serve him well during his time in Bloomington as he should find steady minutes.

However, this playing time might not be easy to come by as a freshman. This is due to the fact that the Indiana frontcourt is already loaded with returners and recruits, as well as incoming St. Mary’s transfer Evan Fitzner. However, this does not mean that Forrester isn’t capable of playing right away. If given opportunties, either because he had a breakout offseason or someone gets injured, Forrester could be a solid player as a freshman.
