Key Losses

As mentioned above, the Bonnies had a great duo in the backcourt a season ago, leading the Bonnies to the tournament. Matt Mobley and Jaylen Adams were two of the more decorated players in St. Bonaventure history. They were also the two best players in the Mark Schmidt era. Without those players, the Bonnies would not have been able to make the NCAA tournament as an at large team a season ago.

Mobley leaves Olean after arriving in 2015 after a season at Central Connecticut St. After the redshirt year, Mobley left his mark on the program. He leaves Olean as the schools leader with three point makes in a season with 105. He also set the conference tournament record for most three pointers made in a single game with nine. The guard achieved that feat in an Atlantic 10 tournament game against the Richmond Spiders. Mobley was able to pour in nine three pointers that game.

Mobley is going to be known not only for being a star in Olean, but for the number of points he scored and how fast he could score them. While at St. Bonaventure the guard averaged just over 18 points per game. Within those 18 points is a player who was deadly from beyond the arc and did a ton of damage at the free throw line. Mobley was also able to feed off his counterpart superstar Adams.

Its hard to find a negative part of Adams game. Adams leaves Olean more decorated than his counterpart Mobley. He finished sixth overall on the all-time scoring list while at St. Bonaventure. He also has the most career points of any guard in Bonnies history. Adams was able to pour in just under 2,000 points in his career. Within all of those points are some impressive individual performances that showed how important the guard was to the overall success of the Bonnies.

Adams holds the individual school record for three-point baskets made in a game with 10. He made those 10 on an impressive 13 attempts. Adams was a prolific scorer, but he was also a great passer. He finished third in school history with his 590 total assists. The Bonnies are never going to be able to replace the production lost by the two superstars. All they can do is hope that a few players step up and pick up the load and help lessen the void left by the super guards.
