2. Big East

2017 Tournament Teams – (6) Villanova, Xavier, Butler, Providence, Creighton, Seton Hall

The Big East definitely has an argument as the best conference seeing that they have Villanova who has won the national title two of the last three years. They also claimed two number one seeds last year, although Xavier was a widely debated choice. Even with the argument Xavier was a very good team last year and deserved to be up there.

Butler beat Villanova twice last year and Seton Hall gave Kansas all they could handle in the second round of the tournament last year. Creighton and Providence also just barely lost to teams that made long tournament runs. This conference may be chasing Villanova for the top spot but they are a very deep group of basketball teams.

Even St John’s, who finished near the bottom of the conference, beat Duke and Villanova in consecutive games. They should be improved this year and we have not even mentioned Marquette yet who just missed the tournament.

This conference could be the best but came up just short when being compared to the top conference in these rankings.
