Michigan Wolverines

Michigan Basketball has been superb so far this season. Even though the Wolverines entered the year as a preseason top-15 team in the nation, not many expected this kind of start to the year. While playing one of the most rigorous schedules in the nation to this point, Michigan stands at 8-0 with a few absolutely superb wins. They can already boast victories over Villanova (away), Providence (neutral), North Carolina (home), and Purdue (home). Not many other teams in the nation can say the same.

Michigan’s resume might just be the best in the country so far this year and I am not saying this lightly. Head coach John Beilein has his team playing at an extremely high level and there is no reason to believe that this will not continue. The Wolverines are more than worthy of a top-10 ranking in the nation at this point in the season behind arguably the best defense in the nation (sorry Virginia).

Offensively, freshman Ignas Brazdeikis (16.3 points) has been absolutely superb. Add in the double-digit scoring in Charles Matthews (14.6 points) and Jordan Poole (11.5 points) and this is a well-balanced offense. Additionally, big man Jon Teske has been an underrated contributor throughout the first month of the season.

Bracketology season is approaching quickly and these winners are definitely starting to build their resumes. Who will find their way onto this list next as the season progresses? Will the same names start to reappear or will new teams make headlines?
