20. Ohio State Buckeyes

Last Week: No. 14

Ohio State basketball lost its first game of the season this past week in a home loss to Syracuse. And while this is far from a devastating performance, there were so many teams in these rankings poised to leap anyone who lost. And that is why the Buckeyes tumbled six spots due to the loss. It is important to mention, though, that Ohio State recovered nicely with a home win over Minnesota to start Big Ten play.

With two true road wins over Cincinnati and Creighton already on their resume, Ohio State still more than belongs in the top-25. And with a fairly easy schedule over the next month, the Buckeyes should steadily climb back up the rankings in the coming weeks. As I have mentioned time and time again in the last 12 months, never count out Chris Holtmann.

Another strong defensive team, Ohio State is holding teams to 60.1 points per game to this point in the year, 18th fewest in the nation. Offensively, only Kaleb Wesson (14.5 points) and C.J. Jackson (13.3 points) are currently averaging in double figures. Six other Buckeyes, though, are averaging more than five points per game.
