Duke Basketball: 3 keys for the Blue Devils versus Florida State
By Zach De Jong
2. Limit second-chance opportunities and fouling
The Blue Devils defense has been stellar this year and, frankly, has won them some key games in the non-conference. Their adjusted defensive efficiently ranks second overall in the nation. One weak point of the Blue Devils has been allowing offensive rebounding, though. The Blue Devils have allowed 175 offensive rebounds this year, which ranks them an embarrassing 304th.
The Seminoles feast off getting second-chance points after offensive rebounds. They have grabbed 185 offensive rebounds this year, which ranks them 55th nationally. The Seminoles best two offensive rebounders are Terance Mann and Mfiondu Kabengele.
Another way the Seminoles get a majority of their points is from the free throw line. The Seminoles score roughly 21% of their points from the charity stripe every game. They, on average, attempt 22.5 free throws a game. When the Seminoles get to the line, they make the most of it, shooting 73.1%.
The Blue Devils do not commit very many fouls over the course of a game. They will need to continue this Saturday afternoon to take away a key scoring area for the Seminoles. Reddish and Javin DeLaurier have been the prime suspects in committing the most fouls so far this year. These two areas are important for the Seminoles to get easy points. Therefore, it is equally as important for the Blue Devils to key in on these areas to prevent easy points for the Seminoles.
