4. Virginia Cavaliers

Record: 15-0 (3-0 ACC)

Last Week: No. 4

One of the final remaining undefeated teams in the nation, Virginia more than belongs in the national top-5. Head coach Tony Bennett has this team functioning at an elite level thanks in large part due to their defensive effort. As per usual, the Cavaliers have a top-3 defense in the nation but their offense is what is taking the team to the next level. Per KenPom, UVA’s adjusted offensive efficiency is ranked sixth in the nation. They shoot the ball extremely well from three and the free throw line, offensively rebound well, and almost never turn the ball over.

With Virginia’s offense playing at such a high level, they rarely go through dry spells where they do not score for extended periods of time. The Cavaliers have struggled with dry spells from time to time in the past but these are far less common this year thanks to the ball movement of the entire team and shot-making abilities of De’Andre Hunter, Kyle Guy, and Ty Jerome.

Virginia, though, plays at the slowest pace in the nation and that can be difficult for some people to watch. When the Cavaliers play, though, their fluidity and teamwork are definitely worth watching because there are few teams in the nation who function as a unit better.
