3. Tennessee Volunteers

Record: 14-1 (3-0 SEC)

Last Week: No. 3

Winning on the road in NCAA basketball is extremely difficult but Tennessee made it look easy this past week. Despite only playing one true road game in non-conference play, the Volunteers showed their poise and experience this past week by taking down both Missouri (87-63) and Florida (78-67) on the road by double-digits. Tennessee is one of the most experienced teams in the nation and their performances this past week showed exactly why they are ranked so high in these rankings.

The clear SEC favorite at this point in time, Tennessee does a superb job finishing around the basket and they are blocked at the lowest rate in the nation. Additionally, the Vols, like just about every other top team, take care of the ball extremely well and force opponents into difficult shots on the other end of the floor. Perhaps most importantly, though, Tennessee records assists on 65.7% of total made field goals, a mark that ranks fifth in the nation.

With Admiral Schofield and Grant Williams leading the way, Tennessee has two superstars to lean on and they also boast a strong supporting cast. It is hard to argue with anyone who places the Vols at the No. 1 spot.
