Lessons can be learned from last season’s team
They say success is in the eye of the beholder. Different people, and in this case, various fans measure success in different ways. The 2017-2018 Michigan State men’s basketball team will be viewed as a failure and not a success because they did not win a national championship by certain Michigan State fans and fans of college basketball. It is no secret that Michigan State basketball fans borderline on obsession when it comes to Final Four appearances and the expectations for their team to win in the month of March.
Others realize that college basketball season starts in November and continues through the months of December, January, February, on onto the month of March. If only the NCAA Tournament matters, then have all the games played in the four months prior be called exhibition games? This season’s Michigan State team can have a great regular season and also make a run at a Final Four appearance. College basketball is a long and grueling season.
The 2017-2018 team did play nearly four months of good quality basketball. They were on track to have a great season but that pesky 2-3 zone defense of Syracuse ended their season early. However, the 2018-2019 team can learn from last season’s mistakes and make a run to the NCAA Tournament and here is why.
